Although AliExpress lists more than 11 products, the platform has drawbacks that can impact your dropshipping business.
Products come from manufacturers in China, which means shipping times can be long. Goods can take days or even weeks to reach the US. Importing from overseas suppliers also means paying tariffs, since the US suspended the de minimis exemption for low-value imports. Finally, product quality can be a concern with goods sourced on AliExpress, as they’ve struggled to keep counterfeit products off their marketplace.
Below, you’ll find 11 AliExpress alternatives, compared by supplier region, shipping speed, cost, and minimum order quantity, plus guidance on choosing the right one for your store.
11 best AliExpress alternatives for dropshippers
AliExpress is a business-to-consumer ecommerce retail platform owned by the Alibaba Group. AliExpress has millions of products from thousands of suppliers, primarily based in China.
You can use the platform to build an online dropshipping store, connecting suppliers with your store via a dropshipping app. When customers purchase products from your store, orders go directly to the suppliers, who then fulfill orders by picking, packing, and shipping the items.
AliExpress is one of several sourcing platforms for your dropshipping business. The alternatives below fall into three channel types: dropshipping apps that sync with your Shopify store, wholesale marketplaces and directories, and retail marketplaces.
You can also skip sourcing entirely: Shopify Product Network lets eligible US stores display other brands’ products and earn commission on sales.

9. 1688 and Taobao

The Alibaba Group owns two other platforms alongside AliExpress: 1688, a B2B wholesale marketplace, and Taobao, a consumer marketplace for shoppers in China. You’ll need a forwarding agent to source from these marketplaces as there’s no native integration with Shopify.

Why look for an AliExpress alternative?
An AliExpress alternative may shorten shipping times, reduce tariff costs, and lower your risk of sourcing counterfeit products:
- Long shipping times. AliExpress orders can take up to 60 business days to arrive on the slowest economy shipping options. Domestically sourced products skip customs and travel shorter distances, which can speed up shipping.
- Tariff requirements. The US government suspended the de minimis exemption, so shipments valued at $800 or less no longer enter duty-free. This includes imports from China, where the average US tariffs on imports stood at 35.2% as of August 2026 versus 16.3% on imports from the rest of the world. Contact a customs broker or lawyer to clarify how this applies to your business.
- Counterfeit and unsafe products. AliExpress has struggled to keep counterfeit and unsafe products off their marketplace. In July 2026, the European Commission fined AliExpress €550 million for breaching its Digital Services Act obligations to assess and mitigate the risk of illegal, unsafe, or counterfeit products on the platform.
How to choose an AliExpress alternative for your store
Product sourcing can be a long process. “I went through Alibaba, and I searched for everyone that appeared to be able to make merino wool,” Dan Demsky, cofounder and CEO of Unbound Merino, says in a Shopify Masters interview. “And I just opened tab after tab of different suppliers; I had hundreds of tabs open.”
“We sent probably, no joke, 500 inquiries on Alibaba … and we ended up working with two of them,” Dan says.
Consider these categories when comparing AliExpress alternatives:
- Shipping speed. Excluding shoppers who were only browsing, the top two reasons US shoppers abandon a cart are extra costs, including shipping and tax (40%), and delivery that is too slow (20%). Shopify can calculate duties and import taxes at checkout so international customers pay them upfront instead of on delivery.
- Customer location. Nearly two-thirds of shoppers expect to receive their purchases within 24 hours, according to Statista data cited by DHL. Consider AliExpress alternatives closer to your customers’ location to speed up shipping times.
- Tariff and landed-cost exposure. Calculate the total landed cost of each product, including shipping fees, import duties, tariffs, taxes, and platform commission. A product sourced from China may have a lower per-item price tag but end up costing more than a domestically sourced product without the extra fees.
- Supplier reliability. On platforms that don’t approve suppliers, the onus is on you to vet them. Dropshipping apps such as DropCommerce and Syncee vet their suppliers. Before you commit, place test orders to check processing times, packing quality, and defect rates, as Shopify’s guide to choosing suppliers recommends.
- Cost to use. Some AliExpress alternatives, like Wholesale Central, are free for buyers because suppliers pay to list; others are apps that charge a monthly fee to use their dropshipping software.
- Business stage. If you’re just starting out and your store is in the US, the Shopify Product Network can fill gaps in your product catalog. You’ll earn commission each time someone buys using the product displays from complementary brands on your website.
- Store integration depth. Integrations with your ecommerce platform can automate dropshipping, including product imports and order fulfillment. Shopify Collective is built into Shopify, and the other dropshipping apps in this list connect to your Shopify store. This lets you run your dropshipping business from the Shopify admin.
AliExpress alternatives FAQ
Is there an American version of AliExpress?
There isn’t an official American version of AliExpress since the company is based in China. US stores can use Shopify Collective to dropship from other US-based Shopify brands, or search US supplier directories like Worldwide Brands and Wholesale Central.
Is there a better website than AliExpress?
Several dropshipping websites verify suppliers and have faster shipping than AliExpress. Shopify Collective connects stores with other Shopify brands, while DropCommerce (US and Canada) and AI Dropship (US and EU) give access to suppliers with faster delivery times.
Is Taobao better than AliExpress?
Taobao isn’t better than AliExpress for most dropshippers outside China. Taobao is a consumer marketplace for shoppers in China with no native Shopify integration, so you’ll need a forwarding agent to ship orders abroad. AliExpress sells to international customers and connects to Shopify through dropshipping apps.
Does AliExpress have knock-offs?
AliExpress does have knock-offs, including fake, replica, and counterfeit products. To lower your risk, order samples before you list a product, and avoid listings that use brand names at prices far below what the brand charges.
Is AliExpress or DHgate better?
AliExpress is better for dropshipping individual items, while DHgate is better for bulk or wholesale purchases from suppliers in China. AliExpress also draws far more traffic: about 526 million visits over three months, versus about 25 million for DHgate, according to Similarweb estimates.
